UM Foundation Board has 'great confidence in Chancellor Jones'
The following statement was released from UM Foundation Board Chair Rose Flenorl at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 23

“Members of the University of Mississippi Foundation Board were stunned and devastated to learn that Chancellor Dan Jones’ contract was not renewed by the IHL. During Chancellor Jones’ tenure, private gifts and the number of donors have consistently increased, providing critical resources for scholarships, faculty support, academic programs and library resources. In addition, he has worked tirelessly to expand access to educational opportunities, including developing the Ole Miss Opportunity Scholarship program in answer to increased tuition. His vision to provide exceptional programs has attracted a talented and diverse student body, as well as recruit and retain gifted faculty members. Dr. Jones’ encouragement for students to make service part of their lives will have a far-reaching impact on our society for years to come.

"The UM Foundation Board has great confidence in Chancellor Jones, and we are heartened by the outpouring of support for him. The University of Mississippi has weathered many storms throughout its history, and this one will not be different. Our profound commitment to our students and educational mission stands strong."
