OXFORD, Miss. – Shannon Woodward, a native of Itawamba County, has joined the University of Mississippi’s School of Business Administration as development officer. She is responsible for securing financial support benefiting the school.
"Shannon is a great addition to the university," said Debbie Vaughn, executive director of university development. "Her background in business and fundraising makes her a perfect fit. We welcome her to the Ole Miss family."
Before joining UM, Woodward worked in marketing and sales management for Saks Fifth Avenue and Entercom Communications in New Orleans. She also served as a business consultant in Houston, Texas.
"We are so pleased to have Shannon as a member of the business school team," said Brian Reithel, business school dean. "Her wit, charm and self-discipline will help us as we pursue new frontiers in educating our state’s future business leaders."
Besides her sales and marketing background, Woodward has played key roles in philanthropic events, including the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, New Orleans Women’s Expo, March of Dimes Auction and BMW Drive for the Cure.
"The shift to full-time fundraising is very exciting for me," Woodward said. "I am honored to play a role in shaping the future of business in my home state of Mississippi."
Woodward holds a bachelor’s degree in social science and marketing from Tulane University. She and her husband, Jerome, a New Orleans native, live in Oxford.
Donations provide a pivotal margin of support for student aid and scholarships, research development, capital improvements and endowed faculty positions in the business school.
