Alice Henderson of Jackson, Mississippi has expanded her legacy at the University of Mississippi by establishing an Ole Miss Women’s Council for Philanthropy scholarship, ensuring that future recipients will receive financial assistance, mentoring and leadership training.
On hand to thank the dedicated donor were Katie Hester of Jackson, a founding member and former chair of the OMWC, and Mary Donnelly Haskell of Oxford, Mississippi, current chair of the OMWC.
The John P. and Wanda Alice Henderson Council Scholarship will help assure students not only are supported in their academic studies but also benefit from broadening experiences such as travel to cultural locations and monthly dinners with life lessons.
Alice Henderson was an Ole Miss alumna and Chi Omega sorority member, while the late John Henderson, a Texas native and longtime ExxonMobil Corp. executive, was an alumnus of Trinity University. Believing strongly in the value of education, the Hendersons have been generous to both of their alma maters.
Alice Henderson said, “I’m really pleased to create this scholarship in our names, and more importantly, I know John would be pleased that we will continue to help young people earn college degrees.”
The John P. and Wanda Alice Henderson Council Scholarship is open to gifts from individuals and organizations.
