Talk to the alumni of The University of Mississippi School of Engineering and current or former faculty members, and invariably you will hear them speak of the Ole Miss Mystique.

But ask them to explain it, and it's difficult to get an answer. Part of the explanation stems from the intimacy that develops between faculty and students in a small school; part is a result of the liberal arts influence that makes Ole Miss engineers more polished, with better people skills and the ability to see the big picture, not just narrow technical issues; part of it comes from the legacy of graduates who have distinguished themselves and the University as corporate executives and leaders in government and education.

It is a confidence born of genuine pride, not arrogance.

Ultimately, the Campaign for Engineering will enhance the mystique because it will strengthen the core values that distinguish the engineering program at Ole Miss from all others.

The leaders of tomorrow are in our classrooms today, said one prominent alumnus from the '50s. We must be certain that the best students keep coming to Ole Miss. This campaign ensures that they will.
