One of America’s greatest authors lived and created his masterpieces in the backyard of the Oxford and Ole Miss community. Thousands of people flock annually to Oxford from around the world to view the Faulkner collection, tour Rowan Oak and experience “Yoknapatawpha County” for themselves.
The Rowan Oak Society was established in 1999 under the auspices of the University of Mississippi Foundation to help raise funds for the preservation of Faulkner’s home. While federal and state funds have assisted in the extensive restoration of the house and grounds, private funds are crucial to maintaining Rowan Oak in perpetuity.
To that end, the Rowan Oak Society seeks to establish a $3 million endowment. The annual income generated from this endowment will be used for the ongoing restoration of Rowan Oak and the grounds. By creating an endowment of this size, we will permanently ensure that future generations have the opportunity to experience this literary landmark. We need your help now. Rowan Oak remains a symbol of William Faulkner’s impact on the vitality of Southern literature and culture. Please consider joining our efforts by making a gift to the Rowan Oak Society to help preserve one of our most treasured assets.
Because gifts to the Rowan Oak Society will be used for the betterment of this Historic Literary Landmark Museum, they are tax-deductible.
